My experience as a therapist and from my personal life is that you first need to face the difficult feelings that arise when you end your distractions. You need to learn to sit with them without acting on them. You need to teach your feelings that your body is a safe home for them. Only then can you begin your new life.
Based on that principle, the online course Stop before Start was created.
STOP BEFORE START
The course consists of ten videos, each describing each step in the course. Each video comes with a worksheet that you will fill out and work with. You will also keep a journal throughout the process and answer suggested questions that will help you reflect on your process.

The first step in this course is about identifying every distraction you use to escape any type of discomfort in your life. -
MOTIVATION TO STOP
Evaluate how strong your motivation to stop your distraction is. -
STOP: JUST DO IT
Use the motivation you identified and pure discipline to stop the impulse to engage in distractions. -
IDENTIFY YOUR TRIGGERS
Identify the actual triggers that cause you to distract yourself. -
FACE YOUR TRIGGERS
Face the feelings within you that arise as a result of no longer avoiding them. -
PERSEVERE
Make your body a safe place where your feelings can be experienced. -
ATTENTION TO SHIFTS
This step is about becoming aware of positive changes in your reality from the new, safer place within yourself. -
SUSTAIN IT
Remain in the reality you have just welcomed so that it can be maintained. -
START: CREATION
Finally, you have reached the stage where you are ready to start welcoming new habits into your life and committing to the life you want for yourself. -
INTEGRATE
This final step is about the active work of bringing all of your new pieces into your life.
